Four*5

A couple of tests. The program tests are definitely taking off - Maya and After Effects mostly. I will be posting a reel of test examples either late next week or the week after, stay tuned for that one!

Playing with AE particles and Maya water.

Other updates while I am at it; Storyboard/Animatic is coming along nicely. Hopefully if all goes according to plan the storyboard will be completed by Tuesday and the animatic not too far behind it.

Four*3

Here is a style frame for you all. Click on the image for full-view.

The image is based off an older version of the story, but the scene is still much the same. You can get the gist of what I'm going for - the effects are not meant to look realistic, they are meant to look as though they have been laid into real life, but are not in fact real. This decision was covered in a previous post but I will expand on the point;

The style of the visual effects relates to the base of the story which revolves around the exploration of my perceptions, judgements and misconceptions through what I imagine as the possibilities that lie underneath the surface. This observation is generation through my imagination, which is thus reflected in the stylised vfx.

I'm currently working on the proper brain model, the one in the above image has been re-purposed from a project earlier this year. Concept art of some examples of 'INNER's' will be coming over the weekend.

Four*2

Here is the story/script as it stands. It was intended to have a voice over, but I am unsure if it is completely necessary - so this treatment is without the v.o. The short film now has a title, "Me Again, Again" - referring to the self reflection in the piece as well as the repetition of self evaluation that we all put ourselves through.

The story reflects several things (for myself);
- Perceptions, judgements and misconceptions of your external environment based off prejudices and imagination.
- Perception of self based off experience, self evaluation, influence of external factors such opinions of others and the capacity to adapt.
- Unwillingness to readily accept change, and the struggle that ensues.

Four*1

I have been incredibly slack with updates. The month of June? Well it is a month that was.

My progress has been stifled/delayed by about 3 weeks due to various work-related factors that I won't go into - no point in making excuses. As it stands, I am grateful that I allowed 2 months (June and July) to do the same tasks because otherwise I would be horribly delayed.

As it stands I will be posting regular updates over the next few weeks - I have some finishing touches to add to the first of the style frames and am currently working on the storyboard, then animatic. As well as program tests etc, after waiting 7 and a half weeks my order of Adobe Classroom in a Book: After Effects CS4 finally came in at the bookshop I ordered it from. It would have been far quicker just to grab it off Amazon - no other bookshop within reasonable travelling distance had the book for less than $100 - and unfortunately I refused to pay twice the price for a book that I thought could be ordered in 'quickly'.

Anyway, I have begun working through that and (work allowing) will be done by the end of the week - as well as other things.

Updates soon!
